Our Work

This project, the data collected, and the technologies developed have many applications that we are working with to improve Golden Eagle monitoring, our understanding of their ecology, and the transferability of these methods to other species and natural resources. 01

Developing a time- and cost-effective approach for wildlife monitoring by incorporating near real-time artificial intelligence (AI) detection of wildlife, specifically cliff-nesting golden eagles, based on images collected via UAS flights and “you only look once” (YOLO) computer vision models.

02

Improving our understanding of where along cliffsides golden eagles choose to nest by investigating the specific characteristics of nesting ledges in relation to environmental factors and how this impacts nesting success.
